The new update improves stability and autofocus accuracy

Canon has released a new firmware package compatible with its EOS 7D Mark II digital camera model, namely version 1.0.5, which fixes a processing error regarding the leap second for “Geotag information appended to image” and “Log data” GPS functions.

In addition to that, this version resolves the issue where the progress bar would freeze at 100% when installing new EF lens firmware even though the update has been completed, and removes the bug that caused “Peripheral illumination correction” to be applied inconsistently in rare cases.

Moreover, firmware 1.0.5 also fixes a rare phenomenon where, at the time of shooting, either an “Err 70” error occurs or the shutter doesn’t release, and improves AF accuracy when using the camera in combination with EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM or EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM lens.

When it comes to applying this firmware on your camera, first of all, make sure that it isn’t already running the present version, and if all is OK, save and unzip the downloadable archive, and transfer the “7D200105.FIR” file onto a formatted memory card.

Afterwards, insert the card into your imaging device, power it up, go to Menu > Set-up 4 > Firmware Version, press the “Set” button, and follow all instructions displayed on the camera’s LCD screen.

That being said, download Canon EOS 7D Mark II Firmware 1.0.5, carefully apply it on your camera, and enjoy your newly improved imaging device. Also, constantly check our website to be aware when a newer version is available for your product.
