The new release fixes the rare uneven exposure issue

Canon has made available a new firmware package compatible with its EOS 1200D (EOS Rebel T5) camera model, namely version 1.0.1, which fixes a rare issue regarding exposure in some captured images.

Specifically speaking, this release removes the bug that caused some images to exhibit uneven exposure when they were captured using TS-E 17mm f/4L or TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II lenses shifted or tilted during shooting.

When it comes to installing this package, first, get and extract the downloadable archive, make sure the camera has either a fully charged battery or a connected AC adapter kit, and copy the firmware file (.FIR format) onto an empty SD card.

Afterwards, insert the card into the camera, turn it on, go to Menu → Setup 4 → Firmware Ver.: X.X.X, press the “Set” button, and choose “OK” to agree with the upgrade process.

Now select the “CCF15101.FIR” file by pressing the “Set” button, choose “OK” to initiate the update, and wait patiently for the process to complete. When it does and the proper message is displayed, all you need to do is select “OK” once more, power off the camera, and remove the SD card.

Bear in mind that if you turn off the camera, remove the SD card, or press any of the device’s buttons while the firmware installation is in progress, this might lead to an update failure that could render your device unstable, so make sure you don’t interfere with the process.

That being said, download Canon EOS 1200D Camera Firmware 1.0.1, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, apply it to your unit, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
