AsusWrt-Merlin has just announced the availability of a new firmware package suitable for several of ASUS’ wireless routers, namely build 378.55 beta 1, which reforms DHCP lease list, Port Forward, Route Table, and IPv6 Status pages under System Log.

In addition to that, its release merges with ASUS’ 6117 GPL, updates OpenVPN, OpenSSL, and FFMpeg to 2.3.7, 1.0.2c, and 0.7.17, respectively, displays the size of cache memory, as well as additional details about UPNP, NAT-PMP, and PCP redirections on the Port Forward page.

Moreover, this firmware will allow DHCP lease durations of up to 31 days, will fix Wireless Log page failure if the SSID contained certain characters or when in Media Bridge mode, will set JFFS2 partition as enabled by default, and will implement several other features described in the Release Notes below.

When it comes to compatible routers, the new build is suitable for the same devices as the previous AsusWrt-Merlin Router Firmware 378.54.2 stable release, namely ASUS RT-AC3200, RT-AC56, RT-AC66, RT-AC68, RT-AC87, and RT-N66 wireless units.

As for applying this release, simply save and unzip the appropriate archive for your specific router model, connect it to your computer using an Ethernet cable, and log into its administration page.

Now, go to Advanced Settings > Administration > Firmware Upgrade, hit the “Choose File,” select the newly extracted .trx file, click “Upload,” and wait for your router to do its job. Also, make sure you don’t interrupt the process in any way.

That being said, download AsusWrt-Merlin Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.55 Beta 1 for the wireless router(s) you own, install it, and enjoy your newly improved device(s).
