Today, ASUS has rolled out a new firmware update targeted at its RT-N12 (VER.D1) wireless router, namely version 3.0.0.4.378.6975, which resolves a buffer overflow issue, fixes lease time and lease expires time, and adds a new DDNS provider.

In addition to that, this release removes the bug that caused ethernet connection to fail in IPv6 when WAN hwaddr was cloned, resolves various network tool-related issues, and fixes allowed/blocked incoming icmp firewall rules.

Moreover, ASUS’ new version forces owners to change default password (admin), and adds a client list view button on network map, a question feedback option, as well as an additional protection mechanism for GUI login brute-force attacks.

If build 378.6975 is applied, the NAT won’t experience any loopbacks when connecting to LAN FTP server, Parental Control feature won’t encounter problems anymore, login authentication strength will be improved, and some CSRF-related issues are to be resolved.

When it comes to installation, first of all, make sure that your router’s current firmware version isn’t either newer or matching this release, save and unzip the downloadable package, and establish a wired connection between the RT-N12 unit and your computer.

Afterwards, go to the web user interface, navigate to Firmware Update section, and use the newly extracted .trx file to upgrade your wireless unit.

That being said, download ASUS RT-N12 (VER.D1) Firmware 3.0.0.4.378.6975, apply it on your device, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
