The update adds Windows 8.1 64-bit support for RX 480 GPUs

Just now, AMD has made available a new Crimson Edition graphics driver targeted at its latest Radeon RX 480 GPU model, namely 16.30 beta, which allows this graphics processing unit to run under Microsoft’s 64-bit variant of Windows 8.1 platform.

However, bear in mind that the release is provided “as is,” and a few game titles may fail to launch or crash when AMD Gaming Evolved overlay is enabled. Still, you can simply disable this option to avoid the problems.

Moreover, if AMD Crossfire mode on Radeon RX 480 in Radeon Settings is disabled, this change might also disable the device in Windows Device Manager or cause a system hang; if encountered, restart your computer and re-enable the option.

With this in mind, if you intend to upgrade to this version, it is recommended that you remove any previous version already present on your computer, and reboot the computer. This ensures any compatibility issues will be avoided.

If completed, make sure your computer is running on Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 64-bit platform and contains a Radeon RX 480 card, save and run the downloadable executable, and follow all instructions displayed on the screen for a complete and successful upgrade.

Last but not least, do not interrupt the process in any way, as this can lead to various malfunctions. Also, once completed, it would be a good idea to reboot your system to allow all changes to take effect properly.

That said, download AMD Radeon RX 480 Crimson Graphics Driver 16.30 Beta, apply it on your computer, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
