Amazon has provided a new firmware update compatible with some of its Kindle devices, namely version 5.8.10, which promises to add general performance improvements, as well as bug fixes.

In terms of suitable devices, the current update is targeted at the 7th-gen Kindle, Kindle Voyage, and Kindle Paperwhite models, Amazon’s 8th Generation Kindle and Kindle Oasis, as well as the 6th Generation Kindle Paperwhite tablets.

Since no detailed changelog is available, the only way to find out what the changes are is to save and apply the present firmware version on your tablet. Still, make sure the currently installed firmware isn’t either newer or matching this release (Home > Menu > Settings > Menu > Device Info).

If all is OK, get the appropriate .bin file for your device model on your computer, connect the tablet to it using a USB cable, navigate to the root directory of the Kindle’s internal storage, and copy the downloaded firmware file there.

Now, after you have ensured that the transfer completed successfully, remove the USB cable, go to Home > Menu > Settings > Menu > Update Your Kindle, tap “Ok,” and the tablet will do the rest; just make sure it has a fully charged battery to finish this task properly.

You should also know that the updates can be received over-the-air (OTA) or wirelessly; however, besides an obvious Internet connection, this method requires you to wait for the new firmware to arrive to the tablet, as not all users get it at the same time.

Therefore, if you want to update now, download Amazon Kindle Firmware 5.8.10, apply it by carefully following the aspects as mentioned earlier, and check our website as often as possible to be aware when a newer version is available for your device.
