Today, Amazon has provided new firmware packages for some of its users, namely versions 4.1.3, 5.3.7.3, and 22.4.5.5 targeted at Kindle 5th Generation, Kindle Touch, and Fire HDX 8.9 4th Generation owners, which include general bug fixes as well as improvements.

However, since there is no changelog provided for these releases, you should save and apply the latest firmware and find out for yourself what the changes really are.

In order to do so, first of all, make sure to check your device’s currently installed software version so that it isn’t either newer or matching the present update. To confirm this, simply go to Menu > Settings > About Device, and the current build should be displayed.

Afterwards, save the appropriate package specifically developed for your Amazon device, copy it onto the device’s internal storage, and monitor the transfer to make sure no problems are encountered.

Now, simply go to Menu > Settings > System Updates (path may differ from a model to another), and follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful installation. Also, make sure not to interrupt this in any way, as it could lead to serious malfunctions.

Therefore, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your device model name, apply the new firmware on it, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
