The present update improves overall reading experience

Amazon has rolled out a new firmware version targeted at some of its Fire devices, namely 5.2.2 suitable for Fire HD 10 tablets and 5th generation Fire and Fire HD 8 models, which implements a new design that makes it quicker and easier to discover new content or resume books, movies, games, or songs.

In addition to that, the present release adds support for the Amazon Underground feature that provides owners with 100% free versions of popular premium titles like OfficeSuite Professional 8, Goat Simulator, and PhotoSuite 4, and popular titles with in-app purchases like Frozen Free Fall, and many more.

Last but not least, Amazon’s team has also managed to improve the overall reading experience by introducing the Word Runner feature which translates into faster and easier reading.

To be clear, this new addition keeps your eyes focused on the center of the page while bringing words to where your eyes already are. Also, with its Dynamic Pacing, Word Runner will slow down for difficult words, punctuation, and paragraph breaks.

That being said, if you intend to benefit from these improvements, save the appropriate .bin file for your tablet model, and copy it onto the unit’s internal storage (root directory).

Afterwards, simply go to Settings > Device Options > System Updates, tap “Update,” and wait while the new firmware is applying.

With this in mind, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your device’s name, follow all above-described steps, and upgrade your tablet’s firmware to the latest version.
