Last week, Archos updated the firmware for their 101XS tablet, that now runs Android 4.1.1 or “Jelly Bean,” as dubbed officially

Besides the new user interface of the OS itself, version 4.1.0 of the tablet’s firmware brings major improvements with simplified video information retrieval and media indexing, as well as a new network shared infrastructure.

According to the release notes, from now on, users can update Archos Video, Music, File Manager and System Monitor applications (embedded in the firmware) through Google Play, so you don't have to surf to a specific page and see if new versions of the apps are available.

Though the tablet was launched a while back, its specs rate it as a competitor for the top positions in this segment of the market.

Initial tests had the 101XS perform about two times better than the iPad 2, whether we're talking 3D gaming or web browsing speed.

As usual, the download link is below, so you can stay “updated one minute ago.”
