Today, WD releases the 02.42.02-012 firmware version for its My Book Live Personal Cloud Storage. This device’s overall performance is improved through the multiple fixes that the new package brings since the previous 02.41.05-034 version.

If updated, the 02.42.02-012 firmware helps file history successfully back up to default shares, fixes auto update feature that didn’t work in certain circumstances, and resolves the pop-up error message that appeared after the device’s name was modified.

Moreover, it improves media crawler’s performance if the drive has a large number of files, and adds support for the WD Windows 8 Rally drive.

As for updating, you must download the file provided in the link below, and afterwards, from the main dashboard select Settings > System > Updates. Choose “Update from File” button, and browse and select the deb file that you have just downloaded.

Click the “Install & Reboot” button at the next dialog, and once the firmware update process begins, do not interrupt it under any circumstances so that the NAS doesn’t experience any malfunctions. When the device reboots, the process is finished and it should be a success.

Now, follow the link below to download the firmware file, and get your My Book Live NAS up to date.
