Western Digital has made available a new firmware targeted at its TV Live Streaming media player, namely version 2.01.86, which includes a large number of new features and fixes that improve the device’s overall performance and stability.

Specifically speaking, this new release adds support for SiriusXM Internet radio, France TV, Tweet, WSJ Live, and many, many others, and fixes the YouTube Leanback, BD ISO, Maxdome movie playback, and TXT MicroDVD issues, as well as several other problems.

As I highlighted above, the changes made through this version are massive, and you can view the complete list by following the link below.

As for installing this release, get and expand the downloadable archive, copy the newly extracted files onto the root folder of a formatted USB drive, and connect it to the player’s port.

Now got to Home, select the settings bar, and press “Enter” when the firmware upgrade icon appears, so that you are guided to the firmware update process. Select “Ok” at the next dialog, press again “Enter,” and the player will now reboot, and after it powers back on, it will start the installation.

Bear in mind that, while the firmware is applying, any power disruption might crash the update and also corrupt the system firmware. Therefore, make sure you have a stable power source and you don’t interfere with the installation in any way.

When the process completes, the device will restart once more (automatically loading the newly applied firmware), at which point you should check the currently installed version in order to confirm that the upgrade has been successful.

That being said, download Firmware 2.01.86 for WD TV Live Streaming Media Player, view the complete list of changes, apply the new version to the device, and enjoy your newly updated media player.
