Western Digital, well known for its storage solutions, has rolled out a new firmware package targeted at its My Passport Wireless mobile storage, namely version 1.04.06, which resolves shellshock vulnerabilities, as well as other issues.

This fresh release fixes My Cloud App connection problems with iOS devices, adds support for medium cipher suites, and resolves the improper display of a single partition in network, as well as the incorrect time/date shown on some SD card transferred files.

In addition to that, Western Digital’s new update also resolves an issue with the LED that wouldn’t immediately start blinking when initiating an SD card transfer.

When it comes to installation, save and unzip the downloadable archive, connect to your My Passport Wireless unit, and log into its user interface. Afterwards, go to the Firmware tab, and click the “Update From File” button located under the Manual Update section.

Now, navigate and select the newly extracted .bin file, click “OK” to confirm your selection, and wait for the installation to finish. Also, during the upgrade, do not power off/reboot the device, terminate the connection, or remove the power adapter.

With this in mind, download WD My Passport Wireless Storage Firmware 1.04.06, apply it on your wireless device, and enjoy the changes this new release brings about.
