14 DAY TRIAL // NVIDIA has just provided the download link for its 101 firmware version compatible with SHIELD Portable gaming consoles, which is an optional update patch that improves stability, as well as smoothness for emulators.
However, this new version also includes the changes made in the previous NVIDIA SHIELD Portable Firmware 99 release, that enhanced battery drain when the lid was closed and upgraded SHIELD hub app to the latest version available on Google Play Store.

As for installing this update, first of all you will need ADB and FastBoot tools that are provided as part of the Android SDK. Also, before initiating the upgrade, connect your SHIELD to your computer, and put it into fastboot mode.
To do so, either turn off the device and press the Back, Home, and SHIELD buttons until it boots, or go to the console’s home screen, open command prompt on your computer, and run the “adb reboot bootloader” command.
Before moving forward, bear in mind that the bootloader must be unlocked. If you know it’s not, run “fastboot oem unlock,” press Home button and highlight “Unlock,” and then the SHIELD button to confirm your selection.
