Buffalo has rolled out a new firmware package compatible with its AirStation N600 Dual Band Wireless Router (WHR-600D), namely version 1.70, which fixes connectivity issues with iOS devices, 5GHz MAC filtering problems, and several other issues.

This new release also resolves some bugs with iPad and iPhone products being displayed as wired devices, removes various PPPoE configuration bugs, fixes the snooping function, and includes various other changes that you can view using the “Release Notes” button below.

If these fixes and improvements describe some of your problems, you should definitely take into account a router firmware upgrade.

To do so, first connect the AirStation to your computer using an Ethernet cable in order to establish a strong and interruptible connection. This step is very important because upgrading your router wirelessly isn’t recommended as it might lead to various device malfunctions.

Now, save and extract the downloadable archive, go to your router’s administration page and log in (username and password should be requested), select “Update AirStation Firmware,” and click “Browse.”

Afterwards, navigate and select the “whr600d-170” firmware file from the newly-created folder, choose “Apply,” and wait for your device to perform the upgrade (about 6 minutes).

Bear in mind that, interrupting this process in any way will cause the update to fail and this can lead to improper device behavior. Once upgraded, your router’s LED will either blink green or turn off.

That being said, download Buffalo WHR-600D Router Firmware 1.70, carefully apply it on your wireless unit, and constantly check our website to be the first to know when a newer version is available for your product.
