It is based on an AMCC 800 MHz SoC processor and 512 MB RAM

There are lots of processors that few people have ever actually heard of, since consumers don't really go out of their way to learn about anything besides whatever AMD, ARM, and Intel have to offer. That doesn't take away from their competence or importance though, as Thecus clearly feels.

The company cheerfully took an Advanced Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) 800MHz SoC processor and used it to power the N2310 SOHO NAS.

SOHO stands for Small Office and Home Networks, for whoever's wondering.

The new product supports RAID 0, 1, and JBOD, has 512 MB RAM, comes with a BitTorrent client, features self-RAID creation, and streams media (and accepts mobile control) via T-OnTheGo (for Android and iOS).

All this on just 5W of energy use. Definitely not shabby at all, especially with the 100/80 MB/s read/write speeds. Too bad the price is unknown. Then again, with storage of up to 8 TB (two bays), it's bound to vary.
