14 DAY TRIAL // Thecus has outed two new firmware packages targeted at several of its network-attached storage servers, namely the 2.04.06 build 7807 stable version, as well as the 2.05.01 build 7826 beta update.
When it comes to changes, while the beta release only adds VAAI functionality to the ESXi and includes support for BTRFS snapshot, the 7807 stable build includes a lot more fixes, new features, and updates.
Specifically speaking, version 2.04.06 includes support for Cyber Power, OMRON, and Powercom BNT-1500AP UPS units, adds new notifications regarding DNS priority and USBCOPY fail, changes the SSH initial boot sequence and unifies the Thecus ID format.
In addition to that, if the stable build is applied, VGA compatibility for LocalDisplay module is raised, the D16000 temperature information is more accurate, English and Japanese UI languages are enhanced, and the link aggregation performance while in broadcast mode is improved.
Moreover, this version fixes various issues with DataGuard, iSCSI CHAP, and LCM/OLED display, removes the bug that prevented VLC from installing, resolves the problem where “NT ACL Support” couldn’t be disabled and includes several other changes that you can check out on the description page of each download.
As for installing the new updates, make sure you get the proper firmware for your NAS server, log into the device’s web interface, go to System Management → Firmware Upgrade → Browse, and select the newly downloaded .rom file.
