Good news for Sony camera enthusiasts, as of this week a new firmware is available for download for the A7 and A7R mirrorless cameras. The update will improve image quality and compatibility with various lens attachments.

The new firmware updater was launched for Windows 7 operating system as well as for Mac although some users claim that it will work on Windows 8 and 8.1 if you run the software in compatibility mode.

Before you initiate the upgrade procedure there are some things you must do in order to prepare your camera for the Firmware update. First of all you must remove the memory card from the camera then power up the camera and select Mass Storage for your USB connection from the settings menu.

Now in order to start the upgrade process first download the appropriate firmware for your camera model and operating system. If you have not done this yet you can use one of the download links from below. After the download is complete double click the installer and connect your camera to your PC via the USB cable. The installer will check your current version and if older, apply the most recent one.

Please try not to power off the camera or disconnect the USB cable until the update process is complete.

After the update is complete it is generally a good ideea to do a factory reset of the device, and a restart so that everything will start with default settings.

You can download the new 1.02 version firmware for the A7 and A7R camera by using one of the links provided below. Also check out our website as often as possible to always keep your camera software up to date.
