Sony has just revealed new firmware packages targeted at some of its action cameras, namely version 2.00 and 3.00 developed for its HDR-AS100V and HDR-AS30 camcorder series, respectively.

In order to be clear, while the 2.00 package can be used to update the HDR-AS100V, HDR-AS100VB, HDR-AS100VR, and HDR-AS100VW devices, the 3.00-related files will help you improve the HDR-AS30, HDR-AS30V, HDR-AS30VB, HDR-AS30VD, and HDR-AS30VW units.

When it comes to changes, for the suitable camcorders, firmware version 3.00 adds support for Sony’s RM-LVR1 remote and allows it to operate multiple devices. However, this function can be used only if the device is already running Sony RM-LVR1 Live View Remote Firmware 2.00 or later.

As for the remaining cameras, the 2.00 firmware improves overall performance of general functions, includes a new Live Streaming feature and adds fresh options, such as Burst Shooting, Motion Shot LE (Limited Edition) and Self Timer, in still image shooting mode.

Therefore, if you intend to upgrade your Action Cam to these versions, simply get the appropriate downloadable package (available for both Windows and Mac OSes), close all running programs and processes that might interfere with the update, and run the setup.

Now, remove any memory card from the camera, connect the device to the computer through a USB cable, click on the “Next” button, and follow the displayed instructions for a successful upgrade. Also, at all costs, make sure you don’t turn off the camera or close the installer, as this can damage your device.

That being said, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Action Cam series, click on the download that specifically caries the model name, get and apply the new firmware in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
