The new release includes system stability improvements

Sony has just announced the availability of a new software update developed for its PlayStation 4 system, namely version 2.04, which unfortunately comes with some errors when trying to initiate the upgrade wirelessly.

Even though it isn’t an important update like Sony PlayStation 4 Firmware 2.00 and doesn’t include any new features, it would be good to keep your console up-to-date. However, some users reported they experienced some errors when downloading the new software.

An alternative way for upgrading your PS4 system is to manually download the “PS4UPDATE.PUP” (do not rename it) on your computer, create a “PS4/UPDATE” path onto a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive, and transfer the firmware there.

Afterwards, ensure your console is completely powered off, attach the newly-prepared USB drive, press and hold the power button for at least 7 seconds in order to enter safe mode, and go to Settings > System Software Update.

Now simply follow all instructions displayed, make sure you don’t interrupt the power or remove the USB stick while upgrading, and hopefully you won’t receive any errors.

Still, if Sony’s PS4 system doesn’t recognize the downloaded file, it would be a good idea to check all above-described steps to make sure you have followed them precisely before jumping to conclusions.

Since it’s your choice, if you want to try out this new update, download Sony PlayStation 4 Firmware 2.04, apply it on your gaming console, and keep checking our website for more news regarding this release.
