Not long after the release of Firmware 4.60 for Sony PlayStation 3, the producer has announced the availability of a new system software update developed for its PlayStation 4 gaming console, namely version 1.72.

Just like the PS3 release, this update improves the overall software stability during the use of specific features.

If you intend to upgrade your PlayStation 4 device to this version, simply create a “PS4” folder onto a formatted USB flash drive (FAT32) and an “UPDATE” directory within it, get the downloadable .PUP file and copy it into the newly-made update folder.

Afterwards, make sure the console is powered off completely, connect the memory stick to the PS4, and press and hold the power button for at least 7 seconds in order for the unit to enter safe mode.

Now, just go to the “Update System Software” section and follow the instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful upgrade.

Bear in mind that while the installation is in progress, it is highly recommended that you don’t power off the PlayStation 4 or remove the USB drive that contains the update file – this will interrupt the upgrade and could cause serious device malfunctions.

That being said, download Sony PlayStation 4 Firmware 1.72, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and upgrade your console to the latest firmware version.
