Just now, Sony made available the 3.01 firmware version developed for its PlayStation Vita portable game console, which only includes improvements to the system’s software stability while using some of the device’s features.

There are different methods available to install the update: using the PS Vita’s wireless feature, by connecting the portable console to a PS3 system or a computer (which must be connected to the Internet as well), or manually, using a compatible card.

Specifically speaking, if the first method is desired, simply go to Settings → Start → System Update → Update Using Wi-Fi, follow the on-screen instructions, and the console will do the rest.

If a PS3 system is used, you should know that all applications must be closed, “User” must be selected, and its firmware should be 4.00 or latest (if not, download Firmware 4.53 for Sony PlayStation 3). As for the computer method, make sure “Content Manager Assistant” is open.

Now connect the PS Vita using a USB cable, go to Settings → Start → System Update → Update by Connecting to a PS3 System (or to a PC), wait for the latest firmware to be downloaded, and follow the instructions as for the previous method.

When it comes to manual installation, simply copy the firmware file onto the compatible memory card, insert it into the portable console, and the PS Vita will afterwards guide you through a successful installation.

That being said, download Firmware 3.01 for Sony PlayStation Vita, apply it to the console, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
