The updates improve M.2, PCIe, and DRAM compatibility

Today, ASRock has provided several new BIOS versions developed for some of its Intel X99 chipset boards, which improve M.2, PCIe, and DRAM compatibility and add NVME support.

Specifically speaking, the producer has rolled out BIOS 1.20 for its X99 WS-E and WS-E/10G devices, version 1.60 suitable for X99 Extreme6/ac motherboards, and a 1.80 BIOS compatible with ASRock’s X99 Extreme6 and Extreme3 products, as well as with its X99X Killer boards.

Therefore, if your model is listed above and you consider upgrading its BIOS, first of all, you should take into account that this task is to be performed only when the newer version implements a change that you can really make use of.

In addition to that, ASRock has made available 3 downloadable archives for each board: one Instant Flash, one Windows, and one DOS-related file, which are to be used as follows.

Choosing the Instant Flash procedure allows you to apply a newer version through BIOS’ Setup Menu, while the DOS file is able to do the same thing from a DOS command prompt. However, bear in mind that both packages must be run from a removable storage.

Last but not least, downloading the Windows-archive requires you to extract it and run the setup file directly from your computer. Still, don’t forget that a BIOS upgrade is very risky, so make sure to perform it only when necessary.

With this in mind, from the links below, follow the one best describing your motherboard model, download the desired file, and apply it on your device.
