The new version should improve the compatible SSD’s overall performance and stability

Silicon Power has made available a new firmware package targeted at some of its solid state drives, namely version 5.60 compatible with the V55, V60, and V70 SSDs, as well as with the S55, S60, and S70 devices.

As the producer doesn’t provide any changelog whatsoever, I can only assume that, if this version is applied, the unit’s overall performance, stability, and compatibility will be enhanced. Still, you should install this firmware to find out for yourself what the changes really are.

To do that, make sure the SSD is connected to the system through a SATA cable, extract the proper downloadable archive compatible with your model, and back up any important data stored on the drive.

Now run the “SPCC_Field Updater V136 for Windows.exe” file from the newly-created folder, wait for the utility to find all connected SSDs, and select the drives you want to update; several units can be upgraded only if the last 5 digits on the signature are identical.

Click the “Update Firmware…” button, select the .vic file that matches the SSD’s signature, click “Open,” and confirm the update process through the “Proceed” option.

When done, a green mark appears on the disk icon; please click “Rescan for Drives” to ensure that the installation has been successful.

Therefore, if you intend to apply this release, download Silicon Power SSD Firmware 5.60, take into account all the above-mentioned aspects, and check with our website constantly in order to stay up to speed with latest releases.
