Today, Thecus has rolled out the 2.05.06.8075 beta firmware developed for several of its Network Attached Storages (NAS), which enhances the Thecus ID wording and updates the 2efsprogs to version 1.42.12.

In addition to that, the new release adds a patch that resolves some common bash vulnerabilities and exposures, namely CVE-2014-6271, CVE-2014-7169, CVE-2014-7186, and CVE-2014-7187.

Moreover, build 8075 also fixes problems regarding the email notification password that couldn’t accept certain symbols in some cases, the SYSLOG folder that cannot be removed, as well as the UI login function that encountered improper behavior.

Therefore, if the aforementioned problems bothered you until now, then save the appropriate .rom file for your device model (full compatibility list can be viewed by following the link at the bottom), and log into the NAS’s web interface.

Now go to System Management > Firmware Upgrade, click on the browse button, search and select the downloaded .rom file, press “Apply” to confirm the selection, and then “Next” twice to initiate the upgrade process (should take around 3 minutes to complete).

During the installation, a status bar will display the progress of the firmware update, and once the process finishes, the NAS will beep for 3 seconds, as well as show a proper message. Also, a “Shutdown or Reboot” dialog will be displayed, so do choose one option.

With this in mind, download Thecus NAS Firmware 2.05.06.8075 Beta for the appropriate device, familiarize yourself with the installation steps, and apply the latest firmware on your device.
