Today, Samsung has announced the availability of its new EXT0DB6Q firmware version developed for 840 EVO SSD models, which now includes support for Advanced Performance Optimizations in Samsung Magician 4.6.

If you intend to apply this release, save the downloadable package on your desktop (available for both Windows and Mac OS platforms), and create a bootable CD/DVD with it. The image includes a firmware update utility, as well as the actual EXT0DB6Q firmware version.

Now, insert the CD into your computer’s optical disk drive, and simply restart and boot from the created disk in order to the update utility to be launched. Afterwards, just follow all instructions displayed on-screen for a complete and successful installation.

Even though the process seems quite easy, bear in mind that, while upgrading, restarting the computer, removing the CD, or interrupting the installation in any way not only will cause an update failure but might also lead to various device malfunctions or brick your SSD.

Therefore, it would be a good idea to use an UPS system (Uninterruptible Power Supply) for this task so that no power outage will cause any problems. Also, make sure the update CD has been properly prepared and its content hasn’t been modified.

With this in mind, download Samsung 840 EVO SSD Series Firmware EXT0DB6Q, carefully apply it on your device, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
