The update improves stability and general performance

Today, Ricoh has made available a new firmware package for its Pentax 645Z medium format DSLR camera, namely version 1.10, which improves compatibility with Image Transmitter 2, as well as general performance and stability.

However, bear in mind that when using the Image Transmitter 2, the camera’s USB connection must be set to [PTP] so that no problems are encountered. Also, don’t try to apply this update on other camera models as this task can brick the device.

When it comes to updating the 645Z unit, first go to Menu > Setup > Firmware Info, and check the currently installed firmware so that it isn’t either newer or matching this release.

If all is ok, save and unzip the downloadable archive, copy the newly extracted “fwdc224b.bin” file onto a formatted SD card, make sure the camera’s battery is fully charged, turn off the device, and insert the memory card into the imaging unit.

Now, power on the 645Z while pressing the menu button, wait for the “Update the camera firmware” message to be displayed, and press “Start,” then “Ok” to initiate the upgrade process (takes around 90 to 150 seconds to complete).

After the new software has been applied and the “Complete” message is shown on the LCD, turn off the device, remove the SD card, and check the current firmware version to ensure the upgrade has been successful.

With this in mind, download Ricoh Pentax 645Z Camera Firmware 1.10, take into account all aforementioned aspects, apply the new software, and enjoy your newly improved DSLR camera.
