After releasing the Realtek LAN Driver 7.080 for Microsoft’s Windows 7 and Server 2008, as well as Realtek LAN Driver 8.026 developed for Windows 8 and 8.1 OSes, the producer has just made available a new Ethernet driver compatible with Windows XP and Server 2003.

Specifically speaking, Realtek has outed driver version 5.824.0321.2014 targeted at its Gigabit and Fast Ethernet network interface controllers and covered by the US6,570,884, US6,115,776, and US6,327,625 patents.

When it comes to applying this release, the producer has made available 2 download records, namely a driver-only archive (836 KB) and an auto-installation package (5.70 MB)

As for the installation steps, if the smaller archive has been downloaded, simply extract the package and update the network driver version through the Device Manager.

If you have chosen the installation package, the update steps should be much easier – download and extract the archive, run the setup from within the newly created folder, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete installation.

Regardless of which method you are comfortable with, make sure you perform a system reboot after the update has finished, in order to ensure that the changes take effect.

That being said, download Realtek LAN Driver 5.824, take into account all the aforementioned aspects, apply the package, and check our website as often as possible to stay up to date with the latest releases.
