Pioneer has just released a new firmware update for its BDP-LX55 Blu-ray disc player. Version 3.24 enhances the playability of BD-ROM, BD-RE, DVD-ROM and DVD-R/RE. It also adds performance improvements and support for a new authentic method to access YouTube.

To install, download the Pioneer BDP-LX55 Blu-ray Disc Player Firmware 3.24 and extract the files named "BDP-LX55_V03.24.bin," "BDP-LX55_SUB.bin," "DLdiscidentifier.txt" and "DVD.bin" to the root folder of a FAT32 formatted memory stick and then safely remove it.

Plug the USB drive into the front panel port of the media player and, if needed, remove all other USB-plugged devices.

Switch on the unit and enter the "Home" menu. Go to "Initial Setup," then "Options." In the next screen, select "Update" and then "USB Storage." The device will search the memory stick for valid firmware files and display them. Press "Enter" to start the update.

At this moment, do not unplug the power cord or remove the memory stick. The installation progress can be viewed on the units front panel display.

Wait for the setup and reboot processes. When the installation is complete, a message will come up on the screen confirming it.

Download the new release and install it in order to stay "updated one minute ago."
