This release enhances playback compatibility with certain BD-ROM discs

Pioneer has just released new firmware for some of its Blu-ray players and a home cinema system. To be more precise, today's update addresses the BDP-320, BDP-51FD, BDP-LX08, BDP-LX52, BDP-LX71, and BDP-LX91 Blu-ray players and the LX01BD home cinema system.

The changelog mentions only enhancements in playback compatibility with certain BD-ROM discs.

Updating is fairly easy and requires a few easy steps and a blank CD-R/RW.

First of all, check the firmware on your device under the “Update Information” section in the home menu. If you already have the latest release, there is no need for an update.

For those who still need to install this firmware, you must download the zip from the link below and extract it to your computer. After that, insert a blank CD and, using a disc creation software, burn the iso file to the disc.

Before inserting the disc to the player, know this: all the operations and menu navigation must be carried on from the front panel buttons and not the remote control.

Now, power up the device and insert the update disc in the tray. “DISC-DWLD” should appear on the screen. This means the update is running.

Messages like DOWNLOAD, WRT KRNL, WRT SYS1, WRT SYS2, WRT DRV, and WRT FLC will also be displayed at some point in the installation process. Be patient and wait for the tray to open by itself.

This marks the end of the setup procedure and you can now remove the disc and check if the update has succeed.
