Philips has pushed out a new firmware for its BDP3382/12 Blu-ray player. Version 2.66 fixes bugs related to 3D playback of the Prometheus, Rio and Ice Age 3 discs.

Other than that, Philips reassures users that this release includes all fixes and improvements present in the previous versions.

The installation procedure is simple and requires the contents of the downloaded archive, a PC (obviously) and a formatted flash drive.

First of all, check your firmware version and if your device came with the latest firmware, the update is not necessary.

In case you have an earlier version, make sure you don't have a disc in the tray of your Blu-ray player, copy the contents of the archive to your flash drive and insert it in the USB port of your player.

Don't rename any of the files found in the zip and don't try to stop the update once it's started.

To install the firmware, you must go to “Software Update,” in the “Advanced” section of the “Setup” menu.

Proceed to updating by selecting “Start.” After the new firmware is installed, the product will turn itself off after 5 seconds. Remove the flash drive and power it back on. Check the firmware version to make sure you've succeeded the update.
