Pentax has recently released a new firmware version for their K-01 and K-30 digital cameras. This release corrects the issue when contrast AF does not work for some lenses while recording movies.

The producer also presents its apologies for those who updated to the previous version, 1.02, because that “update,” if we may call it so, made things worse.

Updating is pretty simple: on a formatted SD Card copy the downloaded .bin file. Afterward, put the card in the camera and scroll through the menu until you reach the “Set-up 3” display. Go to the “Firmware info/Options” section, hit the “Start” button and the update should begin.

After this procedure completes, the camera will shut itself down. Now it's time to remove the SD Card from its slot. If you intend to use that card to take pictures, make sure you format it with the camera.

The download links are listed below. Click, pick, install and stay “updated one minute ago.”
