The new update improves Pinpoint AF overall stability

Today, Panasonic has rolled out firmware 1.1 targeted at its LUMIX GM5 digital camera (DMC-GM5), which only improves overall stability when using the camera’s Pinpoint AutoFocus feature.

Therefore, if you desire this enhancement, prepare to upgrade your camera. For that, first of all go to Menu > Setup > Version DISP and check the device’s currently installed version so that it isn’t either newer or matching this release.

If all is ok, save and extract the downloadable archive, initialize a compatible memory card using your camera, and transfer the “GM5__V11.bin” file from the newly-created folder onto its root directory.

Now, make sure your LUMIX unit’s battery level is full, power it off, and insert the prepared SD card into the appropriate slot. Afterwards, turn on your camera, press the “Play” button, and wait for your device to check the new firmware while it displays a “Please Wait ...” message.

Once recognized, Panasonic’s camera will automatically request you permission to initiate the upgrade (select “Yes” at the “Start Version Up?” message), and apply the new firmware afterwards.

Even though this process is easy, during installation (2 to 3 minutes), make sure you don’t turn off your camera, open or remove its memory card, or make use of any of its buttons. Doing so may crash the update, which could easily cause various device malfunctions.

Upon completion, the DMC-GM5 device will reboot automatically, at which point you should check the current firmware version once more, then power it off, and remove its memory card (don’t forget to erase the update file).

That being said, download Panasonic DMC-GM5 Camera Firmware 1.1, take into account all aforementioned aspects, upgrade your device, and constantly check our website to stay “updated one minute ago.”
