Panasonic has rolled out new firmware updates targeted at the LUMIX GH4 digital camera and its interface unit (DMW-YAGH), namely versions 2.1 and 1.1, respectively, which include new Time Code and RSS (Recording Start/Stop) functionalities.

Specifically speaking, these updates allow Time Code and RSS signal to be embedded into the HDMI output signal, both selectable from the Motion Picture Menu: Time Code > HDMI Time Code Output and HDMI Rec Output > HDMI Recording Control.

However, the aforementioned changes are only available when using Panasonic’s LUMIX devices along with an ATOMOS product, or a similar device that complies with ATOMOS’s specifications.

In addition to that, the producer has also managed to make FHD at 30p/25p native output recording via HDMI available.

Moreover, the DMC-GH4 imaging unit also benefits from 4K video playback performance improvements, as well as from fixes for the Time Lapse Shot feature that experienced problems with summer time.

When it comes to installing these updates, first of all you must apply version 2.1 on your LUMIX camera the same way you have installed Panasonic DMC-GH4 Camera Firmware 2.0, and only afterwards upgrade the interface unit to firmware 1.1.

To be more specific, after updating your camera, save and extract the downloadable archive, copy the .ebn file onto a formatted memory card, and insert it into the LUMIX GH4 camera while it’s turned off.

Now, power the device on, press the “Play” button to enter update mode, and follow all instructions displayed on screen for a complete and successful installation. Upon completion, just turn your camera off, remove its SD card, and you’re done.

With this in mind, download Panasonic DMC-GH4 Camera Firmware 2.1 or download Panasonic DMW-YAGH Interface Unit Firmware 1.1, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
