Today, Panasonic has announced the availability of a new firmware package targeted at its LUMIX DMC-GH4 4K digital camera, namely version 2.2, which includes support for Anamorphic(4:3) mode and makes other improvements.

Specifically speaking, firmware 2.2 allows manually selecting 1/16000 sec shutter speeds when using electronic shutter, and fixes a problem where videos recorded in rec format AVCHD would be misdated when imported to some editing software.

When it comes to the new Anamorphic(4:3) mode, this addition is able to optimize settings for recording 3328x2496 video with a 4:3 anamorphic lens.

In terms of installation, you must save and unzip the downloadable archive, transfer the “GH4__V22.bin” file onto a formatted SD card, and insert it into your camera. Also, make sure your LUMIX unit’s battery is fully charged in order to avoid any problems.

Now, turn on the DMC-GH4 camera, press its “Play” button, wait for it to recognize the new firmware, and finally agree with the update process.

However, bear in mind that while installing you mustn’t turn the device off, use any of its buttons, or remove the SD card, battery, or lens. Doing so will interrupt the upgrade and might also lead to various device malfunction.

With this in mind, download Panasonic DMC-GH4 Camera Firmware 2.2, carefully update your camera’s firmware to the latest version, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
