The new release adds Focus Peaking to MF assist functions

Olympus has just made available firmware 2.0 developed exclusively for its Stylus 1 digital camera, which adds a small AF Target to the appropriate functions allowing users to focus a quarter-size point on normal settings.

In addition to that, the camera receives interval shooting and time-lapse movie functionalities, as well as compatibility with conversion lens (such as Olympus WCON-08X). However, bear in mind that you must configure the lens when attaching them to a Stylus 1.

If you apply firmware 2.0, Focus Peaking will be included in MF assist functions, which will be highlighted in white or black points with clear outline, and focal distance display will be accessible from Magnification, Focal Length, and 35mm equivalent menus.

Moreover, you can now jump to a desired grade of magnification equivalent to 35mm photography using the new Step Zoom functionality.

When it comes to installation, first of all back up all settings changed from the default values as the firmware upgrade process will erase and reset everything.

Now, save and run the appropriate package for your computer OS (compatible with Windows and Mac OS platforms), establish a USB connection between the Olympus camera and a computer, click “Next,” and wait for the wizard to search for update 2.0.

Once found, select it and press “Update,” choose “Yes” and “Agree” at the next dialogs, and wait for this process to finish. Upon completion, the camera’s LCD should display an “OK” message, at which point you must click “Next” at the firmware updater, and terminate the USB connection.

That being said, download Olympus STYLUS 1 Camera Firmware 2.0, take into account all aforementioned aspects, carefully update your imaging unit, and enjoy the changes that this new release brings about.
