The new update resolves the bug that prevented the camera from recovering after encountering a lens error event

Just now, Nikon has unveiled a new firmware package developed for its COOLPIX L30 and S2800 digital compact cameras, namely version 1.1, which fixes an issue that prevented the devices from recovering in certain situations.

Specifically speaking, some of these cameras might have been experiencing occasional problems recovering from a lens error event, even if the device was turned off and on again.

Therefore, in order to remove this bug or simply prevent it (if no issues were recorded), first go and check the currently installed firmware version from the camera’s setup menu, and make sure it reads 1.0.

If so, then save and run the appropriate file suitable for your device model and system platform. The producer has provided two downloadable packages for each camera, one compatible with Mac OS X platforms, and the other targeted at Windows Vista, 7, and 8.1 operating systems.

Now copy the “firmware” folder from the newly created directory onto a formatted memory card, make sure all important data stored on the camera has been backed up, insert the card into the camera, and turn the COOLPIX unit on.

Go to the firmware version section once more, and follow the on-screen instructions for a complete installation. Upon completion, the camera will automatically power off, at which point you should remove the SD card and check the currently installed version once more.

That being said, download Nikon COOLPIX L30 Camera Firmware 1.1 or download Nikon COOLPIX S2800 Camera Firmware 1.1, apply it on you imaging unit, and enjoy your newly improved digital compact camera.
