The release fixes the issue spotted along with a lens error

Just now, Nikon has made available firmware package 1.2 developed for its COOLPIX S6600 digital cameras, which fixes an issue encountered as a result of a lens error where the camera couldn’t recover properly even if it was restarted.

Even though this problem was encountered in rare cases, in order to prevent this from happening, do take into account applying this new release.

To do so, first check the currently installed firmware on your camera by going to Menu > Setup > Firmware Version, and make sure it isn’t either newer or matching this update. If all is OK, format a memory card using the camera, and then power off the device.

Now, save and run the downloadable package (available for Windows and Mac OS platforms), copy the newly-created “firmware” folder containing the firmware.bin file onto the formatted memory card, and insert it into the S6600 unit.

Afterwards, turn the camera on, go to Menu > Setup > Firmware Version, select “Yes” to initiate the upgrade process, and wait for it to finish. Upon completion, a proper message will be displayed, point at which you should power off the COOLPIX unit and remove the memory card.

However, bear in mind that during the installation, you mustn’t turn off or restart the camera, disconnect the memory card, or remove the battery. Doing so will cause serious device malfunctions.

That being said, download Nikon COOLPIX S6600 Camera Firmware 1.2, take into account all aforementioned aspects, upgrade your camera, and constantly check our website to be the first to know when a newer version is available for your device.
