For the moment no changelog is available for these updates

Leica has rolled out new firmware updates targeted at some of its digital cameras, namely versions 1.008 for Leica M Monochrom units, 1.202 for M9 and M9-P devices, as well as 2.024 compatible with M8 and M8.2 imaging units.

Due to the fact that no changelog is available at this moment, I can only assume that these new updates improve the overall performance and stability of the supported cameras.

Still, in order to find out yourself what the changes really are, you must update your Leica unit to the appropriate firmware.

To do so, download and extract the suitable package for your device, format an SD memory card using the camera you are about to update, copy the firmware file onto it, and insert the card into a powered-off Leica unit.

Now, simply turn the camera on, wait for it to recognize the new version, and confirm the dialog that asks whether you want to upgrade.

About 180 seconds later, upon completion, you will be asked to restart the camera; therefore, please do so. Afterwards, turn the device off, remove the SD memory card, and you’re done.

When it comes to recommendations, please note that applying a new firmware will delete any user profiles and reset all settings to default. Therefore, make sure you backup any important data – better safe than sorry.

With this in mind, from the links below, follow the one that best describes your Leica digital camera, apply the latest firmware on it, and constantly check our website in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
