14 DAY TRIAL // Intel has just made available a new BIOS version suitable for its NUC5i3RYH, NUC5i3RYK, NUC5i5RYH, NUC5i5RYK, and NUC5i7RYH NUC kits, namely 0249, which corrects UQIs, updates ITK items, and includes various other changes.
This new update fixes SMBIOS system manufacturer and model that were incorrectly displayed in some apps, and removes the bug that prevented Event Log from posting an error when the battery was removed.
In addition to that, Intel’s present BIOS resolves the watchdog timer reboot failure, adds a new menu option in Integrator Toolkit (ITK) that allows installing Intel Platform Key, and properly displays power modes, as well as power page sub-items, in the ITK GUI.
When it comes to installation, the producer has provided several downloadable files describing 3 different flashing methods: Recovery, iflash, and Express BIOS Update procedures.
To be clear about these techniques, the Recovery BIOS Update file is to be used for an F7 BIOS Update method, whereas the iflash-related archive is able to apply version 0249 only from a USB or CD drive, and only through a DOS command prompt.
As for the 2 Express BIOS Update executables, these packages must be run directly from a Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 platform (a file for each bit architecture).
Either ways, while installing, make sure not to turn off/reboot your NUC, remove the power cable, or interrupt the process in any way. Doing so can cause serious device malfunctions and might even render the device unstable.
