The new release fixes password storage and reset issues

NETGEAR has made available a new firmware update targeted at its WNDAP660 access point, namely version 2.0.5, which resolves a bug that caused passwords to be stored in clear text format.

In addition to that, this update fixes the issue where passwords couldn’t be reset if certain special characters were used, as well as the authentication problem that affected some functions, such as clearing the log file, or start/stop a packet capture.

If version 2.0.5 is applied, your AP unit will also receive a workaround for the event where device configuration or log files could be saved without authentication. However, this phenomenon only occurred when session check failed by PHP script “downloadFile.php”

When it comes to applying this update, first write down all settings changed from default values (you need to re-enter them afterwards), save and unzip the downloadable archive, and log into your device’s administration page.

After entering the username and password, go to Maintenance > Upgrade  > Firmware Upgrade > Browse, select the newly-extracted .tar file, hit “Upload,” and wait for the new firmware to be applied.

Last but not least, once finished, it is recommended that you reset your access point (Maintenance > Upgrade > Restore Settings > Restore) and then re-enter the saved settings in order to make sure all changes take effect properly.

With this in mind, download NETGEAR WNDAP660 Firmware 2.0.5, and apply it on your unit. Also, don’t forget to check back with us as often as possible in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
