Just now, NETGEAR has made available a new firmware package compatible with its PR2000 travel router, namely version 1.0.0.12, which can be applied regardless of the operating system that is powering your computer.

This new update includes compatibility with various WEP ASCII code, adds a new “Always apply the selected profile” option in order to improve user-defined profile settings, as well as the system configuration.

In addition to that, the present release also fixes the DNS Hijack issue spotted when the URL contains special characters, the missing translation problems in “Wireless as WAN” page, as well as the incorrect status bug encountered in Network Map of NETGEAR Genie application.

If you can make use of these new changes, then get and extract the downloadable archive, and make sure you have connected the router to the computer using an Ethernet cable (wireless connections tend to be faulty). Also, back up all current settings as the update process will reset the device to its default values.

Now, log into the PR2000’s user interface, go to Maintenance > Router Upgrade > Browse, navigate and select the newly extracted .img file, and click the “Upload” button. At this point, the new software is transferred to the router and afterwards installed, so make sure you don’t interrupt the process.

That being said, download NETGEAR PR2000 Router Firmware 1.0.0.12, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and update your device to the latest firmware version.
