Today, NETGEAR has announced the availability of firmware version 6.2.0 supported by a large number of its network storages, which adds HTTP and HTTPS support for admin GUI, allows formatting USB drives from the GUI, and includes several other changes.

In order to be clear, this new update will add support for Home folder snapshots and static route configurations, and will allow to share files with other users by sending an email link, as well as implement iTunes and DLNA as protocols.

Moreover, version 6.2.0 improves backup workflow and adds the ability to navigate through local sources and destinations, and includes the option to schedule maintenance tasks such as Scrub, Defragment, Balance, and Disk Test.

In addition to that, ReadyDROP has been changed with a more granular syncing solution, ReadyCLOUD desktop application replaces ReadyNAS Remote app, and disk spin down is now available in the new Power tab under System.
