As for the Surface Pro 3 tablet, this unit receives new Surface Pro Embedded Controller (38.4.50.0) and Surface Pro System Aggregator (3.9.250.0) firmware versions that improve Power Cover support and enhance overall system stability.

In addition to that, its related update also adds the 8.014.0704.2014 LAN driver from Realtek that increases stability and speed for the tablet’s Gigabit Ethernet adapter.

Moreover, through the 5.20.1034.0 Microsoft LifeCam Front driver, the Surface Pro 3 not only that it has improved webcam functionality and stability, but it also has a lower power consumption when using video chat (such as Skype), and can also make use of Flash camera streaming in IE.

As for the compatible platforms, while both packages are suitable for Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 operating system, only the Surface Pro-related update can be applied on Windows 8 OSes as well.
