M-Audio has released the 1.15.4 firmware version (Mac) for their top-drawer synth called Venom, upgradable using the special tool, now version 1.8.7. The corresponding pieces for Windows are driver version 5.10.0.5142  and updater version 1.0.13.

Venom is a synthesizer that mixes the colorful tonal warmth of the vintage synths with the high-tech digital technology to deliver you all the sounds you might need when it comes to expressing your musical creativity.

You have 512 single-sound patches and a whopping 256 layered patches so you can store a lot of your original sounds.

With an intuitive front-panel, the M-Audio Venom also comes with a software editor that puts infinte options right at the musicians' fingertips.

The new firmware addresses several MIDI clock-related issues under Windows and some inconsistencies with the Firmware Updater.

Some erros relating to the Vyzez editor are still prone to  occur; installing the latest version of the Vyzez Venom editor should fix them as well. With Pro Tools 8.0.5, the first launch after the update could return an error. Quitting and restarting Pro Tools is said to get rid of it.

When it comes to Mac OSX, the list of fixes is even longer, and you can get a full picture reading the Mac version download page.

The Venom does not support USB 3.0 (so far), so users are advised to use it plugged into USB 2.0 ports. Saving your existing presets using a  MIDI dump is recommended, as well.
