Lexmark has released a new set of firmware updates for its MX610, MX611, XM3150, CX510, CX410, MX410, MX510, MX511, XM1140, and XM1145 printers. The changelog for these fresh releases is impressive and features detailed lists of functional and field service related enhancements, as well as field issues, fixes, and other improvements.

The complete release notes can be viewed on the download pages for Lexmark's printers' firmware. I also invite you to download the one that suits your device. The details on how to install it are listed below.

First of all, extract the archive containing the firmware files. The one that should end up on your formatted USB stick has the “.fls” extension. Safely remove the flash drive and head to your printer.

Insert the drive into the USB port from the operator panel. “Print from USB” should appear on the screen. If it doesn't, use the left or right arrow keys to navigate through the menu to the above-named feature.

Access the flash drive and select the firmware file. A new message should come up “Program Device: Yes.” Accept this setting and the printer will start the update.

During the installation, various messages will be displayed on the operator panel. Do not turn off the printer or unplug the USB drive until the device restarts and “USB Menu: Print from USB” is displayed.

Get the latest firmware for your Lexmark printers, install it, and stay “updated one minute ago.”
