Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite Firmware Version 5.3.3 can be downloaded from Softpedia. This package delivers improved performance, image viewing, registration and wireless connectivity.

Before you even consider updating, check your device’s version by going to Menu → Settings → Menu → Device Info. If the firmware version is “Kindle 5.3.3,” no further action is needed.

Otherwise, please make sure that the Paperwhite’s battery is charged, or at least connected to a power source, and a USB cable is close.

So, connect the device to the computer and copy the downloadable bin file into the root folder of the e-reader’s storage. Make sure that the transfer process is successful, and if so, eject Kindle through a safety disconnect and unplug the USB cable from the e-reader.

Now go to Menu → Settings → Menu → Update Your Kindle and select “OK” to start the update process. The “Update Your Kindle” option could be grayed out if you already have the latest firmware (if you haven’t checked it out in the first place).

The process will be complete when the device restarts and you will see Firmware Version: Kindle 5.3.3. So the update process isn’t that hard – why not try it out.
