Intel has just announced the availability of its new USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller driver, namely version 3.0.4.65, which fixes various problems encountered by Bluetooth and USB 2.0 devices.

When it comes to compatibility, this new release is suitable for Intel’s 8/9 series, as well as the C220/C610 family series chipsets, and for systems including a 4th/5th Generation Core processor, a Core M CPU, or certain Pentium/Celeron central processing unit models.

An important aspect that I must highlight is that all aforementioned components can work with Intel’s new USB 3.0 driver only if the system configuration containing these devices is powered by Microsoft’s Windows 7 platform (either bit variant).

However, this isn’t the only OS supported: computers including a C220/C610 chipset might also run a Windows Small Business Server 2008 or a Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system.

Now, since we pointed out some fixes, lets expand them: first of all, large file transfers over Bluetooth won’t fail to complete anymore, there will be no problems connecting a Bluetooth device to its controller, and disabling a Bluetooth device will now be performed much faster.

In addition to that, this 3.0.4.65 version resolves the event where, if a USB 2.0 keyboard is connected to the computer, the USB 2.0 mouse would freeze at Windows’ login screen when exiting S3 sleep state.

Moreover, in certain situations, removing USB products (attached to a 2.0 Hub) from device manager won’t take as long as before, and running the setup.exe installer will display no unknown publisher whatsoever.

With this in mind, download Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver 3.0.4.65, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and upgrade your USB 3.0 version to the latest.
