Booting from an SD card with ESXi is now possible

HP has just rolled out iLO 4 (Integrated Lights-Out 4) firmware version 2.03 compatible with its ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 devices, which improves DIMM SPD read/write operations reliability and allows booting from an SD card with ESXi.

In addition to that, this new release resolves the incorrect report regarding processor and sensor temperatures, and corrects the improper display of FAN1 SID LED even if no fan is attached to that specific connector.

Moreover, the timing issue that could have caused the WHEA (Windows Hardware Error Architecture) test to fail constantly has been resolved, and the NAND device partitions won’t have problems mounting anymore.

If firmware 2.03 is applied, support for TLS v1.1 and TLS v1.2 when using HTTPS URLs will be added, and SSLv3 will be disabled in order to address “POODLE” security vulnerabilities.

However, because of this security improvement, you might need to enable TLS (Transport Layer Security) in your browser, as this is the next developed technology after SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).

That being said, download HP ProLiant MicroServer Gen8 iLO 4 Firmware 2.03, install it on your system, and enjoy the changes that this new release brings about.
