The new release fixes a bug spotted after upgrading to 1.20

Today, Ricoh has rolled out a new firmware package developed for its Pentax K-3 Digital SLR camera, namely version 1.21, which improves overall stability and performance, and also fixes an issue that sneaked along with the previous 1.20 firmware.

Specifically speaking, this new update resolves the event where Monitor backlight is turned on even when status screen setting is set to “Display Off” and shutter button or AF button turn to off.

If this issue has bothered you until now, save and unzip the downloadable archive, and locate and save the “fwdc220b.bin” file from within the newly-created folder onto a formatted SD memory card (must be initialized using your camera body).

Afterwards, ensure the battery is fully charged, power off your device, and insert the SD card. Now, turn off your camera while holding the Menu button, and agree with “Update the camera firmware” message displayed on the LCD.

Once the upgrade process has started, a “Now Loading” message will be displayed. Bear in mind that during installation you mustn’t remove the battery/SD card or power off/restart your camera, as this can cause serious device malfunctions.

That being said, download Ricoh Pentax K-3 Camera Firmware 1.21, carefully apply it on your device, and don’t forget to remove the SD card after the update has been applied. Also, constantly check our website to be aware when a newer version is available.
