FiiO has just rolled out the first firmware update targeted at the X1 portable player, namely version 1.1, which adds compatibility for mode playlist formats (m3u and m3u8), and includes support for in-line headphone control functions.

Moreover, users that upgrade their players will be able to listen to 32KHz sampling-rate files and below, and choose between showing filename or title from ID3 tag in the Now Playing screen.

In addition to that, FiiO’s team managed to enhance track compatibility, fix the menu skipping bug spotted when moving beyond the first page of System Settings, resolve several UI text and graphics element issues, as well as bring numerous other fixes.

Therefore, if you want to make use of these changes, you should obviously upgrade to version 1.1. To do so, first check the currently installed firmware by going to System Settings > About X1 and see if the player isn’t already up to date.

If it isn’t, then save and unzip the downloadable archive, copy the “x1.fw” file onto a formatted TF card (FAT32 format required), power off the FiiO X1, and insert the memory card into the player.

Now press and hold the power and Shortcuts Key buttons in order to enter firmware update mode, and allow the X1 device to perform the installation.

That being said, download FiiO X1 Portable Player Firmware 1.1, take into account all aforementioned aspects, and apply the latest software to stay “updated one minute ago.”
